To get started with Drupal, you should familiarize yourself with some command line functions.

A common editor in linux distrutions. :q! = Exit without Saving :x = Save and Exit Switch between insert and Replace mode withe the insert key on the keyboard Get out of edit mode so that you can enter the ":" commands with ESC. |
| wget | Web get...allows you to get files from the net from the command line. I use this a lot with Drupal |
